Challenger Birthday Twist-Off Results |
|
|
Saturday 24th February saw the Challenger 4x4 Team opening up the workshops and shop and organising a twist-off comp in honour of their first anniversary in Tongham. Everyone hopes this can be an annual event, possibly apart from Paul and Lucy who had to do all the organising! We'll keep you posted.
The day was a social occassion more than anything else, a chance to meet friends old and new, an oppurtunity to check out some fascinating motors and have a great deal of fun. It was also great to put faces to forum names. The only damage on the day was in the wallet/credit-card area since there's such a great array of goodies on view in the shop. Oh, and the paint on the workshop floor suffered a bit too, much to Paul's disgust The twist off was grea fun, and had many hearts a-flutter, as the view of the workshop roof and the gentle swaying of your Landie was not a calming experience! The scores were calculated using the aveage RTI of a forwards AND backwards run - see below the results table for an explanation of the RTI calculation (thanks to Ben for doing the calculation and providing the results and explanation). Full results are in the table below, but the top 3 were: - 1st Hybrid_from_hel aka Nige - presented with an ARB winch sail and certificate by Challenger 4x4
- 2nd Ogwi aka Neil A
- 3rd Pete R aka Pete R !

A few facts about RTI,
Up till a few years ago a RTI of 1000 was meant to be perfect and above this was thought to be unacheivable.
A standard vehicle acheiving above 500 is a very good result.
So that everybody understands how RTI is worked out:
You use a 20 degree ramp, measure the distance which you travel up the ramp (to the centre line of the hub)
The distance travelled up ramp is devided by the wheel base and then multipled by 1000.
So for a discovery which travels 60" up the ramp it would be
60/100 x 1000 = RTI 600
