RAINFORSET CHALLENGE - DAY 2 |
|
Apparently there has been alot of arguing between the Spanish and the Portugese, they don't like each other much!!!!
The started today at 11am and had 14 stages to get through, 7 stages twice over. They made good time on alot of the stages and had no breakages. Jim and Adrian have broken a CV and their power steering box has failed but they have replacement parts so not out of the competition. Four cars have pulled out and a few more are limping. Spoke to Paul at 6.30pm (Wednesday) and he said they were doing another night stage tonight starting again a eleven so more news tomorrow.
Spirits are high and they are all having a great time!

RAINFORST CHALLENGE - DAY 1 |
|
They arrived safe and sound in Portugal at 9.30pm Monday evening where they were taken to the hotel to sleep for the night.
Scrutineering took place in a disused fire station from midday Tuseday and was apparently very thorough, but they got through this with no problems. They then had to wait until 11pm for the start of the event so alot of sitting around in the baking sun was done, poor things!!! Paul has been looking at the photographs on the net at previous years event and there had been alot of extremely deep water, this is not Pauls favourite thing at all so his was very apprihesive about what to exept.
They started the event in the town square and Paul and Nev were off first so this worried Paul even more. But he needn't have worried, other than cracking a windscreen and Neville being cut to bits by large thorns it was apparently a doddle!
They got back to camp at 4.30am to sleep.
More news tomorrow.
