Tomorrow, Kathy and Richard Bunce will be leaving to start the first day of the Landy Rally 2008. They will be travelling through 10 countries in 7 days. They are going as team Challenger 4x4 and we wish them both the best of luck!
Landy Rally is designed to raise money for the charity of your choice. Kathy and Richard have chosen Community Responders who are a voluntary organisiation who respond to emergency 999 calls in areas where the ambulance may take a while to get to.
If you would like to make a donation towards Richard and Kathy's chosen charity please visit www.justgiving.com/landyrally or alternatively call Lucy at Challenger and she would be more than happy to put your name down on the form in the shop.
Good luck to you both x

RAINFORST CHALLENGE DAY 5 |
|
Today they had 3 stages in the day to do all quite uneventful, the weather has been really bad but that probably gave them an advantage over the others. Team GB are in very high spirits and are mooning at any given oppurtunity, brits abroad!!!!
They completed the day stuff had food and then went back out to complete the very last night stage. This was the bit that Paul had been dreading, deep water!!! He was apparently driving with water over his nipples!!!! But both teams got through it fine.
The night stage finished at 1am and they then went on to the presentation. Only 10 cars out of 24 finished the event and Jim and Adrian took 4th place and Paul and Nev took 5th place. Paul and Nev were really pleased with this result and even more chuffed that they were presented with the spirit of the event trophy aswell.
Paul and Nev went on to celebrate until 7.30am in some Portugese bar that stayed open all night the rest of the team thought better of it!!!!!
They are all now on the long drive home!

Jim repaired his CV and borrowed a shaft off of another competitor and was back in the competition, he completed the stage in good time.
Martin Stainer had Jims spare shafts and as Martin is no longer competing in the competition he was not allowed to get them off of his truck as this would be deemed as outside assistance and he would be penalised for it, I beleive this is also the reason that Jim has not been able to change his steering box and as his has a Disco 2 box noone has one he can borrow.
On the next stage Jim and Adrian were first out on the last winch out of the stage they ran all of the winch line out and it came off of the drum this cost them time and the completed the section in 18 minutes. Paul and Nev wre next up they drove the stage without winching in 8 minutes.
Next stage was a tricky one and again Jim and Adrian went first they DNF the stage and incurred a 20 minute penalty. Paul and Nev used 5 minutes of the allocated 20 minutes for the stage to walk it and decided they would sackj the stage and they too incurred a 20 minute penalty.
The competitors are not allowed to walk the stages before the time start they are going into them blind.
The are going back to camp now for some rest before they go out to do another few night stages. Still all very positive and moral high!!!
